Gloucestershire Trust residents rock around the Christmas tree
Residents from 11 Gloucestershire care homes operated by The Orders of St John Care Trust (OSJCT) were transported back to the 1950s for a rock n roll themed Christmas party.
Around 120 residents plus Trust employees and volunteers attended the annual festive get-together held at the Cheltenham Chase Hotel near Gloucester.
Party-goers were treated to a glass of fizz on arrival followed by a traditional turkey roast lunch and enjoyed live music courtesy of rock n roll singers from Daisy Chain Entertainment. All residents were given a Christmas gift to take away.
The party also saw the judging of a competition to make the best Christmas decoration out of corks, which was won by residents of Henlow Court.
Sian Dewhurst, OSJCT’s Volunteer Events Manager for Gloucestershire, who organised the event, said it had been a lovely occasion.
She added: “It was a wonderful party – it was just so nice to see residents having a fun, festive time together. They all really enjoyed the rock n roll theme, with some guests dressing up for the occasion, as Elvis, the Pink Ladies and T Birds – there were lots of dirndl skirts, chiffon scarves and polka dots!”
“I’d like to thank all the volunteers and employees who helped out on the day to make it so special.”
