Goodson Lodge Care Centre in Trowbridge has marked the end of Hospice Week with a heartfelt gesture of appreciation, recognising the incredible work of local hospice professionals and the importance of building strong partnerships across the care community.
As part of the celebrations, Julie, Activities Coordinator at Goodson Lodge, visited Dorothy House Hospice Care in Winsley to deliver a selection of lovely treats to staff and volunteers, thanking them for their dedication, compassion and the invaluable support they provide to individuals and families across the local community.
The thoughtful gesture was an opportunity to recognise the extraordinary contribution of hospice teams, who provide specialist care, comfort and emotional support to people living with life-limiting illnesses, as well as their loved ones.
At Goodson Lodge, part of The Orders of St John Care Trust (OSJCT), building meaningful relationships with local organisations, healthcare professionals and community partners is an important part of creating a welcoming, connected and supportive environment.
Rebecca Pike, Home Manager at Goodson Lodge, said:
Hospice Week is a wonderful opportunity to recognise the incredible work of organisations such as Dorothy House and the difference they make to so many people's lives. We wanted to show our appreciation with a small gesture of kindness and a very big thank you.
At Goodson Lodge, we believe that strong community relationships and partnership working are essential to delivering compassionate, person-centred care. By supporting one another, sharing experiences and recognising the contribution of other care professionals, we can help create a stronger, more connected community for everyone.
The Importance of Partnership Working and Community Engagement
Partnerships between care homes, hospices, healthcare providers and local community organisations play a vital role in supporting the wellbeing of older people and their families. By developing positive working relationships, organisations can share knowledge, strengthen communication and encourage a more joined-up approach to care, particularly when supporting people with complex needs or approaching the end of life.
Community engagement also helps care homes remain connected to the wider world, creating opportunities for collaboration, volunteering, shared initiatives and meaningful relationships that benefit residents, families and care professionals alike.
For Goodson Lodge, recognising the work of neighbouring organisations is about much more than saying thank you. It is about celebrating a shared commitment to dignity, kindness, compassion and ensuring that people feel valued and supported at every stage of life.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone at Dorothy House Hospice Care for the remarkable difference you make every day. From all of us at Goodson Lodge, your dedication, kindness and compassion are truly appreciated.
