Goodson Lodge Launches Choir
Are you a singer at heart? If so, we need YOU!
The team at Goodson Lodge came up with the idea to launch a choir and invite residents, family, friends, members of the local community, in fact anyone who has a musical bent to come along and join in.
If you are a singer at heart, rehearsals take place every Thursday evening at 6.30pm at Goodson Lodge. The choir’s first booking is for a festive celebration at Paxcroft Community Hall in December.
Music as Therapy
We are all aware of and have experienced the power of music to bring joy, evoke memories of the past and provide comfort. For years, people have benefitted from music therapy, which uses music to help with physical, mental and emotional challenges in people of all ages.
Music therapy can help older adults deal with age-related issues, such as stress, depression, chronic pain and even memory impairment. It’s used in memory care treatment to slow the decline in speech skills in those who are living with dementia. Music is also known to bring people together, to combat feelings of loneliness and isolation. Playing music can also motivate older adults to get moving.
During October Goodson Lodge will also be celebrating the power of music by hosting a Music and Sensory Open Day on Thursday 10th October, which is World Mental Health Day. Why not come along and experience the power of music therapy for yourself?
