The Grace British Bake Off
Residents and staff at Grace Care Centre in Thornbury invited members of the community into their home for a very special evening to celebrate the final of the Great British Bake Off.
Residents and staff at Grace Care Centre in Thornbury invited members of the community into their home for a very special evening to celebrate the final of the Great British Bake Off.
The event started at 7pm with a baking competition in which 10 participants competed for a range of prizes. The eventual star baker crown was given to our resident Tony for his diabetic blueberry cake.
Amongst the attendees was the Mayor of Thornbury, Angela Symonds, who said: “It is an honour to come to Grace Care Centre, meet the residents and judge these amazing cakes.”
The Home Manager at Grace Care Centre, Peter Moore, who helped Angela judge the entries, added: “Our residents have thoroughly enjoyed baking their cakes in anticipation for the event. I want to say a big thank you to the Mayor for taking time out of her schedule to meet our residents and support us with judging.”
Following the competition, everyone sat down to watch the final of the Great British Bake Off with a slice of cake and a beverage in the cinema room at our purpose-built home in Thornbury.
