The Great Henry Cornish Bake Off raises money for Alzheimer’s Society
Residents and the care team at Henry Cornish Care Centre in Chipping Norton came together to mark Alzheimer’s Society’s cupcake day with a Great Henry Cornish Bake Off competition, which saw residents judge the staff’s baking efforts.
Members of the Henry Cornish care team dusted down their whisks and got busy baking up a storm in the days leading up to the contest, with entries including a rainbow unicorn chocolate cake, beautiful cupcakes, and a classic lemon drizzle.
On the day, residents were armed with an obligatory cup of tea with which to enjoy the baked treats, and they marked each entry out of five for presentation, consistency, flavour, and creativity.
Mary Berry, Prue Leith, and Paul Hollywood even made a surprise 'appearance' to mark the occasion!
The votes were very close with all cakes receiving high scores from residents.
The entry that just edged a win was the chocolate flavoured rainbow unicorn cake, which resident Joyce described as her favourite.
She said: “It had a very light texture and I just love chocolate cake.”
Alzheimer’s Society’s cupcake day is a yearly event that provides a chance to spend time with those you care about and raise vital funds to support people affected by dementia.
