The great Spencer Court bake off
Lorraine Hill, Head Chef at Spencer Court in Woodstock, has always enjoyed cooking and believes strongly that food can be helpful towards healing. Over the last year, Lorraine and her team have baked dozens of stunning and indulgent cakes for the enjoyment of residents and visitors.
If they would like one, each resident receives a birthday cake and Lorraine ensures each is decorated to match the person’s personality and reflects their interests.
Every occasion at Spencer Court is made more special by a delicious bake: at Christmas, Lorraine bakes beautiful individual Christmas cakes for residents, and guests of the home’s monthly afternoon teas enjoy fluffy scones, rich chocolate brownies and perfect carrot or coffee cakes.
Food-lover Lorraine has worked in the care industry for over 30 years and enjoys creating varied menus to suit all tastes and dietary needs. She enjoys the way food can be a talking point as well as contributing towards residents’ wellbeing: seeing the smiles of residents as they enjoy a freshly baked cake is Lorraine’s favourite reward for a job well done.
She and her team prepare all meals from scratch on-site in Spencer Court’s kitchens and they rise to the challenge of making any required changes in a timely fashion so that mealtimes are always prompt and the food is always delicious.
With the final of the Great British Bake Off being aired this week, all at Spencer Court agree that Lorraine and her team could give the contestants a run for their money.
