The Gregory House Team Bravely Takes on Sponsored Leg Wax to Support Residents’ Activities Fund
A dedicated team of staff and senior leaders at Gregory House in Grantham are preparing to bare more than just their hearts for a very special cause, by taking part in a sponsored leg wax to raise £1,000 for the Residents’ Amenities Fund.
The light-hearted but courageous challenge will see members of the home team (Dominic, night carer, Alex house keeper, and Andrew the handy man), alongside senior leadership (Mike Stredder group operations director, Bogumil Cwiklak assistant divisional director, and Gavin Risborough senior regional maintenance manager), roll up their trousers and face the waxing strips, all in the name of enriching the lives of the people they care for every day.
The Residents’ Amenities Fund plays a vital role in supporting entertainment, special events, and memorable trips out for residents. From live music afternoons and themed celebrations to garden centre outings, the fund helps create meaningful experiences that bring joy, connection, and treasured moments.
Home Manager Marie said:
“We are always looking for new and fun ways to support our residents. The Amenities Fund makes such a difference to daily life here, it helps us go beyond care and create real experiences. If a little temporary discomfort on our part can help bring lasting smiles to our residents, it’s more than worth it.”
Residents have been enjoying watching the preparations unfold, with plenty of good-natured teasing directed at the bravest (and hairiest!) volunteers. Families, friends, and colleagues are also getting behind the effort, with sponsorship pledges to help meet the fundraising target.
The team hopes the event will not only raise funds but also bring people together in support of the Gregory House residents. Every pound raised will go directly towards activities and outings designed to enhance wellbeing, reduce isolation, and create moments of laughter and companionship.
The sponsored leg wax will take place on the 1st April at the home, and the community is warmly invited to support the team by donating, spreading the word, or cheering them on.

Together, the team hopes to reach, and even exceed, their £1,000 target, proving that when it comes to supporting residents, no challenge is too hairy.
