Grevill House residents braved the rain to support BBC’s DIY SOS The Big Build
Residents of OSJCT Grevill House in Charlton Kings, Cheltenham put on their raincoats to support a local family in need.
BBC’s DIY SOS supports families who have had a change in circumstance and now require major building works to their home. The family who are being supported by the latest project are The Chapman’s who have had many serious health issues and have recently lost Margaret, one of their daughters.
The Chapman’s family home is located in the same village as OSJCT Grevill House so the residents decided they would like to do what they could to support. The residents asked the chef Maxi, if she would bake some goodies which the residents could take down to the wonderful volunteers at the site of the home makeover.
The residents proudly delivered 2 trays of sweet treats to the volunteers who were delighted to received them. The teams have been worked so hard on the project and there have been between 90-150 tradesmen and women on site each day. BBC’s Billy Byrne, the well-known electrician came out to thank the residents for their visit to the site moments before the heavens opened and they were hit by torrential rain. The volunteers were so kind and all sheltered our residents with their coats and umbrellas and got them back into the dry as quickly as possible.
Kate Smith, Home Manager said, “our residents loved being able to do a small amount to support such a great cause”.
