Growing Together
Goodson Lodge residents link up with local schools in sunflower initiative
This month, Goodson Lodge sent sunflower seeds to a number of Trowbridge schools and invited them to sow them at the same time as the residents planted theirs in the beautiful gardens at Goodson Lodge.
As the sunflowers grow so does the continued relationship with the schools.
There is a competitive element too to see who can grow the tallest and most beautiful sunflowers.
The sunflower has become a symbol for hidden disabilities generally and dementia specifically so the idea is also that this activity enables the pupils to discover more and talk about dementia.
Tim, the Customer Relationship Manager at Goodson, is also available to go out to schools and other organisations to discuss dementia in more detail.
Goodson Lodge is a founder member of Dementia Action Trowbridge which aims to make the town more dementia friendly. For more information, please contact Tim at the home.
