Hayward House Care Centre marks milestone anniversary
10 years of loving care

Hayward Care Centre in Devizes is proud to celebrate its 10th anniversary, commemorating a decade of loving care and community service.
The care home hosted a special celebration, which included a cake and live entertainment from Ukulele Piddle. The celebration was an opportunity to honour the home’s legacy and thank the dedicated staff, residents and families who have made the centre what it is today.
Resident Malcolm Bryant had the honour of cutting the celebratory cake with Home Manager Alison Stenning. He said: “I love it here. I’ve lived here for five years and I’ve loved every minute of it. I am so well looked after.”
Alison added: “A lot has happened in the last ten years, from Brexit to Covid to the Coronation. During the decade here at Hayward Care Centre, we have loved, laughed and lost. We have made memories – some sad, some happy but all made special by the residents, the team, the families, the friends and all those who support us.”
The care home, located in Corn Croft Lane, was officially opened on 7 May 2015 by the late Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, who was 93 at the time. Prince Philip’s visit was a nod to his deep ties to Wiltshire, a county where he lived briefly during his naval service and proposed to Her Majesty The Queen. His connection to the region - and the armed forces - made his presence at the inauguration especially meaningful.
Hayward Care Centre is named in honour of Reginald Hayward, a war hero who served in the 1st Battalion Wiltshire Regiment during World Wars I and II. Hayward’s extraordinary service earned him the Victoria Cross and two Military Crosses, and his legacy continues to inspire the centre’s commitment to excellence in care. The Wiltshire Regiment, to which he belonged, was later incorporated into The Rifles Regiment, for which the Duke of Edinburgh served as Colonel-in-Chief.
Over the past decade, Hayward Care Centre has become a vital part of the Devizes community, providing compassionate care for local people.
