#IntergenerationalWeek
A look back on some of the intergenerational work Chestnut Court have been involved with.
To mark National Intergenerational Week, we have chosen to reflect on some of the fantastic intergenerational work that continues to be done at Chestnut Court.
It has been widely proven that bringing different generations together has a positive impact on everyone involved.
We can’t talk about intergenerational work without talking about our visits from Catrin at Boogie Beat Music and Movement. Catrin visits Chestnut Court on a regular basis and uses her brilliant music and movement classes to bring generations together. A particular favourite of ours was the Christmas session in which we were joined by children from Beech Green Primary School.
Little Explorers Nursery are also regular visitors to Chestnut Court. Residents and staff always eagerly anticipate the children and staff visiting the home to join us for a range of games and activities.
As well as our regular visitors, the team at Chestnut Court make a conscious effort to get out into the local community as much as they can. One example came back in July, when we were thrilled to receive an invite to the leavers play at Fieldcourt Junior School. It was a fantastic day out for everyone who had the privilege to attend.
Gence Mekkunnel, Home Manager at Chestnut, said: “Everyone at Chestnut Court has bought into intergenerational projects and we have seen significant benefits as a result. I want to say thank you to all our community partners for their support with this, including our neighbours, Beech Green Primary School, Boogie Beats Music and Movement and Little Explorers Nursery. We look forward to seeing you all again soon”.
