Isis House care home in Oxford has received a special thank-you letter from Buckingham Palace on behalf of His Majesty King Charles III, following birthday cards sent to the King by residents and children from Flo's Nursery.

To celebrate His Majesty’s birthday, residents at Isis House Care Home worked together with children from Flos Nursery to create and send handmade birthday cards.

The project brought together two things that are much-loved at Isis House: arts and crafts and birthdays. It also provided a wonderful opportunity for an intergenerational activity, with residents and children sharing their creativity and birthday wishes across generations.

Rachel Smith, Activities Coordinator at Isis House Care Home, said:

“At Isis House, we love bringing people together through creativity and celebration. Our residents really enjoy arts and crafts, and birthdays are always a special occasion, so making birthday cards for His Majesty The King was a wonderful way to combine the two. 

Working alongside the children from Flo's Nursery made it even more meaningful, creating a lovely intergenerational activity that everyone could enjoy. 

We were absolutely delighted to receive a response from Buckingham Palace — it was such a wonderful surprise and something our residents and the children will remember for a long time.”

The letter, sent on behalf of His Majesty The King, was warmly received by residents, staff and the children involved. It was a particularly special moment for everyone who had taken part in creating the cards.

The correspondence from Buckingham Palace will be proudly shared with residents, families and the wider community as a lasting reminder of this memorable intergenerational birthday celebration.
