In celebration of Random Acts of Kindness Day, which is celebrated annually on February 17th, the team at Isis House brought smiles to the streets of Oxford with a series of heart-warming acts of kindness. Residents and staff came together to share small tokens of love, spreading joy to the local community in a truly memorable way.
As part of the initiative, the team had prepared lovely Valentine’s bags, each carefully crafted to brighten someone’s day. Every bag contained a hand-decorated heart with a positive message, a crocheted heart, a pucka love tea bag, a pen, and a chocolate heart. Residents were delighted to hand these out to passers-by, experiencing first hand the joy of giving.
Maureen and Sheila were particularly enthusiastic about the experience. “It was such a lovely way to connect with people,” said Maureen. Sheila added, “Seeing their smiles made it all worthwhile.” Their warmth and energy clearly resonated, with one local florist so touched by the gesture that they invited the team back after the event and presented Isis House with a beautiful flower arrangement for their home.
Rachel Smith, Activities Coordinator at Isis House, said, “It was wonderful to see our residents engaging with the local community in such a heartfelt way. Small gestures really can have a big impact, and today reminded us all how far a little kindness can go.”
The morning of kindness concluded with a sweet treat, as the team stopped by Greggs to pick up jam donuts to share with friends and staff back at Isis House. It was a perfect ending to a morning dedicated to spreading love, happiness, and community spirit.
Through simple acts of thoughtfulness, Isis House residents and staff reminded everyone that small gestures can make a big difference. Kindness, after all, is contagious—and Oxford felt a little brighter that day.
