Residents, family members and staff from The Heights enjoyed a day out on the River Thame.

The group made the journey from Downley by coach before boarding the River Time Boat, a specially adapted vessel designed to make river cruises accessible for people of all abilities. Equipped with a chair lift, everyone to board safely before setting off on a two-hour cruise along the Thames.

As the boat made its way upstream through a series of locks, residents enjoyed the scenery and spent time chatting with family and friends. The cruise later returned towards Henley, giving residents the chance to see preparations underway for the famous Henley Royal Regatta.

Resident Raymond Brown, who was joined by his wife and daughter for the day said:

"It is just lovely getting out and about, especially being on the river."

Throughout the journey, skipper Lucy kept everyone entertained with stories about life along the Thames, sharing local knowledge about some of the riverside homes and residents, as well as surprising passengers with the fact that there are nearly 200 bridges across the river.

For many residents, the opportunity to spend time outdoors, enjoy the fresh air and share the experience with loved ones was what made the day so special.

Junior Walker, Activities Coordinator at The Heights, said:

"It was a fantastic day out and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. Seeing residents spending time with their families, taking in the sights along the river and enjoying something a little different was lovely. There was plenty to talk about on the journey home. The feedback from residents and families was wonderful."

The outing forms part of The Heights regular programme of trips and activities, giving residents opportunities to enjoy new experiences and stay connected to the local community.

With beautiful weather, good company and plenty to see along the way, the river cruise proved to be a memorable day out for everyone on board.
