Jubilee Lodge celebrate A. A. Milne’s birthday
Jubilee Lodge in Bourton-on-the-Water had a Winnie-the-Pooh themed day in celebration of the author A. A. Milne.
The celebration day began with a themed coffee morning with Winnie the Pooh honey cakes for the residents to enjoy alongside their mid-morning coffee before commencing activities organised by the activities co-ordinators including reading over some nice quotes and painting and colouring some Winnie-the-Pooh pictures.
Residents especially liked the quote “If there comes a day when we can’t be together, keep me in your heart. I’ll stay there forever.”
The residents learned more about the story and the characters including how Winnie-the-Pooh was named. A. A. Milne named the character Winnie-the-Pooh after a teddy bear owned by his son, Christopher Robin Milne, who the character Christopher Robin was based on. The rest of Christopher Robin Milne's toys – Piglet, Eeyore, Kanga, Roo, and Tigger – were incorporated into the stories too. Two more characters, Owl and Rabbit, were created by Milne's imagination, while Gopher was added to the Disney version.
