Lake House celebrate diversity through food
Colleagues at Lake House Care Home in Adderbury have introduced a Meal of The Week initiative that helps celebrate their diverse team.
Each week a colleague puts forward a recipe that means something to them, or reminds them of their culture, to be cooked by the kitchen team. Residents can choose this menu option for their main meal.
The first of these exciting alternative dishes was a delicious massaman curry cooked by talented kitchen assistant, Dao, to an authentic Thai recipe.

Dao has always loved cooking new foods but is fairly new to professional catering, having never worked in a kitchen before joining the Lake House team in 2018. She is now hoping to complete an NVQ 2 in Hospitality.
Dao’s role involves assisting the chef to prepare meals, cleaning down the kitchen and making sandwiches and cakes. Dao says learning to bake has taken practice, but this is something she now does every day, and she loves decorating the cakes she has made.
Dao was pleased to be able to make her Thai dish for residents to try. Major, one of Lake House’s residents, has spent more time living in Asia than he has in England and said he felt like he was "at home again" after sampling the dish.
The home looks forward to tasting next week's Meal of The Week: an Indian recipe suggested by carer Suresh.
