Lake House hosts day care taster week

Discover the benefits of day care at Lake House’s Taster Week, with festive activities, opportunities to make new friends and a special performance celebrating Audrey Hepburn.

Lake House offers older people the opportunity to enjoy a change of scenery, take part in activities and spend time with others in a welcoming and supportive environment. Day care can help older people maintain their independence, build friendships and enjoy a regular routine outside the home. It provides opportunities to try new activities, share interests and meet new people, while giving family members and carers valuable time for themselves, knowing their loved one is enjoying a day of companionship and support.

The Day Care Centre Taster Week will give visitors the chance to experience the activities on offer at Lake House and meet the team, with a varied programme of entertainment, exercise, outings and festive fun.

The week begins on Monday 23 November with news and views at 10am, followed by the book club at 11am. In the afternoon, visitors can join in with Christmas carols during the Sing with Me session.
On Tuesday, the morning will include festive foot massages and nail care, alongside residents’ choice of music. In the afternoon, visitors can hear about Anna’s adventure climbing Mount Kilimanjaro before enjoying an African drumming session with In 2 Cultures.
Wednesday offers a Christmas visit to Bell Plantation, followed by festive cooking and mince pie making in the afternoon.
On Thursday 26 November, visitors can enjoy seated exercise and a church service before a special afternoon performance by Helen Anker. Her one-woman play, The Essence of Audrey, celebrates the life of Audrey Hepburn and begins at 2.30pm.
The performance is open to the local community, with tickets priced at £5 and refreshments available, offering an opportunity to enjoy an afternoon of theatre at Lake House.
Friday rounds off the Taster Week with a Christmas quiz, a visit to the pub and festive crafts, including making fabric crackers.

Alex Grindle, Home Manager at Lake House, said: “We’re really proud of our Day Care Centre. It gives people the opportunity to come together, make friends, try new activities and create new memories in a welcoming environment.
“Day care is about much more than the activities themselves. It’s about having something to look forward to, sharing experiences with others and feeling part of a community. We hope the Taster Week will give more people the chance to see what we offer and experience it for themselves.”

The Day Care Centre Taster Week is an opportunity for local older people and their families to find out more about the service, meet the team and discover how regular visits can provide companionship, stimulation and a greater sense of connection.
