Lake House resident and husband celebrate 65 happy years of marriage
Lake House resident Doreen and her husband Peter celebrated 65 years of marriage on 20th November and it transpires they shared their anniversary date with another very special couple.
Doreen and Peter, whose wedding was in 1954, were married and lived for the early part of their marriage in Cropredy, a village just eight miles away from Lake House where Doreen is now a resident. In preparation for the milestone anniversary the home organised a small party for the couple and their family, complete with tea party with cupcakes and a sky-blue cake.
As is customary for those celebrating a significant anniversary, The Queen sent her congratulations in a personalised card to Doreen and Peter. The couple was delighted to receive their card from Buckingham Palace and the occasion was made all the more special when they discovered that The Queen and Prince Philip were also celebrating their own anniversary on the same day.
Activity Coordinator, Micia Lydon, said: “We congratulate Doreen and Peter on their long and happy marriage and we were delighted to be able to help them celebrate on this special day. To know that The Queen was also most likely remembering her own wedding on the same day made the occasion very special. We loved seeing Peter and Doreen’s wedding photo and hearing their happy memories.”
Congratulations, Doreen and Peter!
