The Lakes Care Centre has been showing its support for Breast Cancer Awareness with a fantastic fundraising effort and some truly heartwarming acts of kindness from our residents and talented knitting group.

We are delighted to announce that, thanks to the generosity of our residents, families, staff and supporters, we raised an amazing £108 for Breast Cancer Awareness through our Tickled Pink fundraiser!

A huge thank you to everyone who supported our event and purchased raffle tickets for our beautiful hamper. It was wonderful to see so many people getting involved, showing their support and coming together for such an important cause.

Breast Cancer Awareness is particularly important within care homes and the wider community. Residents, families and team members may have their own personal experiences of breast cancer, making it vital that we continue to encourage conversations, share information and show support for those affected. Campaigns such as Tickled Pink help shine a light on the importance of awareness, early detection and standing together to support individuals and families facing a breast cancer diagnosis

Our support didn't stop with fundraising! Our wonderful knitting group has once again been busy putting their needles to good use, this time creating Breast Support Cushions for the Ridgeway Breast Support Group. We were delighted to welcome Jo from the support group to The Lakes Care Centre. During her visit, Jo spent time talking to our residents about the cushions, explaining how they are used and the difference they can make to women going through breast cancer treatment.

The handmade cushions are placed inside special comfort bags, which are given to ladies receiving treatment, providing a little extra comfort, support and kindness at what can be a particularly challenging time. It was lovely for our residents to hear first-hand how their time, care and creativity will make a positive difference to others. Knowing that something they have lovingly made will bring comfort to someone in need makes their efforts even more special.
