The Lakes Care Centre marks World Alzheimer’s Day
Each year, World Alzheimer’s Day is held on the 21st September with the aim of raising awareness and challenging some of the stigmas of Alzheimer’s related dementia.
OSJCT is one of the few care providers who employ our own Admiral Nurses. These are specialist nurses who are supported by Dementia UK. The Lakes Care Centre is one of several OSJCT homes to benefit from this.
To mark World Alzheimer’s Day, the team organised a special menu and some reminiscence activity which has proven benefits for those living with dementia.
Several of their residents sat down with a member of the team to talk through pictures of their life and the memories they have of the time. Residents enjoyed having the opportunity to share their stories and the team also felt incredibly privileged to be able to listen to these amazing stories.
Becky, Head of dementia care at The Lakes Care Centre, said: “Dementia Care is something The Lakes Care Centre is very proud to offer and support the residents living here and their family. We continuingly strive to work with our Admiral Nurses to deliver the highest standard of care for those living with Dementia. World Alzheimer’s Day is a very important day in the calendar for us as it helps to raise awareness and challenge stigmas.”
