Residents, families, colleagues and members of the local community came together for an afternoon of entertainment, refreshments and stalls, with the event raising funds that will directly benefit those living at the care centre.
The fete was supported by a range of local stallholders, including Lacey’s Scentsy, Suzi from Little Rainbow Creations, Rosie’s Bakes, The Breadline Project, Abigail’s Crafty Creations and Aga’s Face Painting. A number of local businesses also generously donated prizes for the event. Entertainment was provided by Sparky and Sprite, whose singing was particularly enjoyed by residents.
The event highlighted the importance Larkrise places on maintaining strong links with the local community and creating opportunities for residents to remain connected with the people and organisations around them.
The fete provided a welcoming opportunity for families and members of the public to visit the care centre, meet residents and colleagues, and enjoy an afternoon together.
Jade Wise, Activity Coordinator at Larkrise Care Centre, said:
“We are extremely grateful for the support we received from so many local businesses and stallholders. It was wonderful to welcome members of the community into Larkrise and see residents enjoying the afternoon with their families and visitors.
“This was our best summer fete yet, and raising £507.45 is a fantastic achievement. The money will enable us to provide residents with more opportunities to enjoy trips and experiences, as well as contribute towards our newly landscaped garden.”
Resident Bill said: It was lovely to see so many people here and to have everyone enjoying themselves. I particularly enjoyed the singing and looking around the stalls. It was a very enjoyable afternoon.
Newly landscaped garden provides space to enjoy the outdoors
The summer fete also provided an opportunity for visitors to see Larkrise’s recently landscaped garden, which has transformed the outdoor space and created a more attractive and purposeful area for residents to enjoy.
The garden provides opportunities for residents to spend time outdoors, enjoy nature and the changing seasons, take part in activities or simply relax with family and friends.
Having access to a well-designed outdoor environment can provide important opportunities for social interaction, activity and relaxation, while giving residents a space they can enjoy throughout the year.
