Life is Gourd as Windsor Street celebrates Harvest Festival
At Windsor Street Care Centre, our residents have chosen to celebrate the season by embracing the Harvest Festival instead of Halloween this year.
It’s an age-old tradition that celebrates successful crops and bountiful tables, and giving thanks for friendships and communities.
We held a party with live music and dancing, to allow us to spend some quality time together, sharing food and drink, and good times.
This decision to focus on Harvest has given everyone the chance to reflect on the beauty of autumn and the importance of giving back to our community, which is so important. As keen gardeners, we’ve been thinking about our crops all year, and this year, we even have home-grown pumpkins as part of the celebration.
To mark the Harvest Festival, residents have been busy with various arts and crafts, creating seasonal collages that capture the colours and warmth of autumn. Their creativity has filled our home with the spirit of the season. Each piece brings the beauty of the harvest indoors, bringing joy to all of us and all our visitors.
But this Harvest celebration goes beyond crafts; residents have also come together to organise a collection for our local food bank, Caring for Communities and People. We’ve collected canned goods, cereals, and other essentials, with the goal of helping local families in need. Seeing the residents’ dedication to helping others has been truly inspiring, reminding us of the importance of generosity.
This Harvest Festival has brought our community closer together, celebrating the simple joys of autumn and the strength of giving back. Thank you to our residents for making this season truly meaningful!
