Lorna Doone Day Centre reopens to offer the elderly company and activities
Mary, Ann and Iris return to Wootton Bassett Day Centre
The Lorna Doone Day Centre, in Wootton Bassett, co-located with Ridgeway House Care Home, and run by The Orders of St John Care Trust (OSJCT) has opened for clients this week, after being closed for 13 months. The Centre is open Tuesday to Friday from 9am – 3pm.
Day Centre Coordinator, Nikki Large, said: “It was wonderful to see our regular clients again, and they reported having a lovely day. In the months that the centre had been closed, we stayed in touch by sending cards and dropping off Easter Eggs and Christmas gifts.”
Clients who attend the Day Centre, join in with games and crafting such as bingo, knitting and gardening. It offers a friendly and social atmosphere for those in need of some company and supported activities. The Day Centre is for people over 65, and prior to lockdown was regularly attended by a lady who is over 100-years-old, and now lives at the adjacent Ridgeway House Care Home.
