Marston Court residents get into the Scottish spirit for Burns Night
Pipe Major Steve Duffy visited Marston Court care home in Oxford to help residents celebrate Burns Night in true Scottish style!
It was the fifth year that the Marston Road home, part of The Orders of St John Care Trust (OSJCT), has hosted an event to commemorate Scottish poet Robert Burns.
The celebrations saw Major Duffy pipe in a haggis that had been prepared by care home chef Jason Rees.
Residents also read out poems by Burns, tried a spot of Scottish dancing and joined in with a rousing version of Auld Lang Syne, before sitting down for a traditional lunch of haggis served with neeps and tatties.
Home Manager Sharon Fenn said: “This event has become a real favourite with our residents. They really enjoy the pomp and the spectacle, as well as the haggis and whisky! It was a wonderful celebration, thoroughly enjoyed by all.”
