Cllr Bateman joined residents, family members and care colleagues for tea and specially made thank-you cakes, and taking the opportunity to recognise the dedication, compassion and hard work of the home’s care team.

She visited each household within the home, personally presenting carers with thank-you cakes and sharing her appreciation for the difference they make to residents every day.

The celebration not only recognised our professional carers, the team also took the opportunity to thank residents and family members who had been carers themselves during their lives.

As conversations turned to caring, residents and relatives shared fond memories of the people they had supported and the experiences they had along the way. One resident spoke warmly about her eight years working in home care.

It created a lovely opportunity to recognise the many different forms caring can take: from a career spent supporting others to the love and responsibility of caring for a family member.

It was a really special afternoon of appreciation, conversation and connection – and a lovely way to celebrate everyone who has dedicated their time to caring for others.”
