Mayor and local MP attend bank holiday barbecue at Windsor Street Care Centre
Family members and local community groups also join residents for the occasion
Whilst the country enjoyed the long bank holiday weekend, the team at Windsor Street Care Centre in Cheltenham organised a tasty barbecue for residents and special guests.
The barbecue was held in the beautiful, award-winning garden at Windsor Street Care Centre where residents have started to enjoy the return of entertainers over the summer.
Throughout the day family members visited the garden area at the home to see their loved ones and enjoy the barbecue. The home also welcomed members of the community including their local MP, Alex Chalk and the Mayor of Cheltenham, Steve Harvey. Other guests arrived from partners in the local community, including, St Michaels Church, Cornerstone Community Centre and Mindsong.
In preparation for the barbecue, the team decorated the garden with inflatables, disco lights, and a paddling pool, which proved particularly popular in the sunshine. The head chef and kitchen team at the home also provided a delicious spread of food on the day.
Speaking of his visit to Windsor Street, Alex Chalk MP said: “I was delighted to join the barbecue. It was a great success, and I was so pleased to meet so many residents and their families. Congratulations to the organisers and the brilliant chefs too!”
Mayor of Cheltenham, Steve Harvey, added: "It was so lovely to mix and chat with the delightful residents, there were a few characters and I loved chatting to them!"
Marzanna Urbaniak, Home Manager at Windsor Street, said: “Our residents and the team thoroughly enjoyed welcoming members of the community to our garden barbecue. The weather held for us on the day, and everyone had a great time. A huge thank you to all of the team and volunteers who got involved in the organisation of such a positive event.”
