Residents at Meadowcroft are enjoying their very own on-site pub, bringing everyone together for socialising, themed events, and shared experiences, creating a warm, welcoming space for families and the local community.

Part of the Orders of St John Care Trust (OSJCT), Meadowcroft care home in Thame is celebrating the success of its new on-site pub, The Meadowcroft Inn, which officially opened in February.

Created to ensure residents who are unable to visit a local pub can still enjoy the familiar atmosphere and social experience it offers, The Meadowcroft Inn has quickly become a popular and welcoming space for residents, families, and visitors to come together.

The project was supported by a generous donation from Nicola Dixon, who runs The Red Lion, an Oak Taverns pub. Nicola kindly donated glasses, bar runners, and beer mats to help bring the pub to life.

Nicola said:

“It was lovely to be able to help with the set-up of The Meadowcroft Inn and to be there on opening day. It was great to chat to the residents, and hopefully I’ll get to pop back in and enjoy it with them again soon.”

In March, residents marked the Cheltenham Gold Cup with a themed event in the pub, creating a lively atmosphere and a real sense of occasion for everyone involved.

Feedback from residents and their families has been extremely positive, with many highlighting how the pub encourages social connection and strengthens the sense of community within the home.

Gail, Home Manager at Meadowcroft, said:

“The Meadowcroft Inn has already become a wonderful sociable space. Residents, families, and members of the local community have loved the pub, and we are looking forward to creating many more happy memories together.”

As part of The Orders of St John Care Trust, Meadowcroft continues to find meaningful ways to enrich residents’ lives, supporting wellbeing through connection, choice, and shared experiences.
