Didcot mayor opens community raffle

The Meadows care home hosted a joyful Easter Eggstravaganza, welcoming residents and the community, raising nearly £350, enjoying an Easter egg hunt, and celebrating generous local support.

The Meadows care home in Didcot, welcomed residents, families, and local community members for a vibrant Easter Eggstravaganza Day, raising nearly £350 to support community activities.

The event was joined by Cllr Jim Loder, who presented the raffle and drew the winning tickets. He commented that he “enjoyed the vitality and business of the morning and that it was evident of the generosity of the home and community.”

The raffle featured a wide range of prizes, including hampers, tickets, a coffee machine, and plenty of chocolates, kindly donated by Cornerstone, Rowse Honey, Tesco, Vauxhall Barracks, Coronet Bingo Didcot, and residents’ relatives.

Following the raffle, children took part in a lively Easter egg hunt, racing around the grounds to find hidden eggs. Residents thoroughly enjoyed watching the excitement, with many commenting on how much they appreciated the fun and energy brought to the home.

Vauxhall Barracks also generously donated Easter eggs to residents on Easter Sunday, extending the celebrations beyond the event itself.

Tobias Matonhodze, Home Manager at The Meadows, said:
“It was wonderful to see our residents, families, and neighbours coming together to celebrate Easter. The generosity shown by local organisations and individuals, and the positive feedback from the community, truly made the day special for everyone involved. Our residents in particular loved being part of the action and seeing so much joy around them.”

The event was open to the wider community and received overwhelmingly positive feedback, reflecting the strong connections between The Meadows and its local neighbourhood.
