Meet Buckland Court Residents, William and Harry
Buckland Court has its very own Animal Ark, where the goats and Percy the pig live, alongside Dave and Bob, the ducks.
Anyone who has ever had a pet will tell you have wonderful it is, and how much caring for an animal can have a positive impact on your life. A dog might be ‘man’s best friend,’ but try telling that to our residents who look forward to Rosie and Penfold, our cats doing their rounds!
Pets offer company and relaxation, and sometimes they even teach us things. With a unique relationship between person and animal each time, it’s no wonder that so many of us look to our pets to change our lives for the better.
Percy and the goats obviously live outside, and in that, residents must get outdoors to see them or to take them a tasty treat. And where Percy is concerned, almost everything is tasty! Fresh air and sunshine are both wonderful tonics for general health and wellbeing so getting outside helps us all. The simple act of stroking your pet releases endorphins – the ‘happy hormone’ – that can also help reduce blood pressure. Rosie and Penfold, our feline residents, are more than happy to oblige where they can!
As friends go, our pets are loyal and trusting companions. They’re always there for you, won’t share your secrets, never judge you, and can always be relied on to make you laugh and smile. The routine of looking after pets helps to give us a sense of purpose, too. And if all that weren’t enough, they’re very cute! Some say laughter is the best medicine; we think it might be pets.
Our animals at Buckland Court really are part of the family, providing love and companionship whenever required.
