Monkey around and beat the January blues!
Now the excitement and festivities of Christmas are over the January blues can tend to creep in. With this in mind, Larkrise Care Centre in Banbury is inviting the local community to join them for an uplifting visit from some cheeky squirrel monkeys!
Loneliness and isolation can be felt at any age in society and is particularly prevalent in older generations. Age UK reports that if loneliness is not addressed it can become chronic and could have a serious impact on people’s health and well-being, making it harder to get through the bleak days of January.
Larkrise Home Manager, Lyndsay Sard, says: “There is much that can be done locally to help those in our community who feel lonely, particularly at this time of year. That’s why Larkrise is aiming to beat the January blues in Banbury!”
Larkrise is running a range of sensory activities throughout the month specifically designed to lift the mood and stimulate the senses. Providing beneficial sensory therapy to those living with dementia, activities will include perfume mixing, music reminiscence as well as the visit from a group of squirrel monkeys.
The home is welcoming anyone in the community who would like to join them to meet the visiting squirrel monkeys first hand and see them up close. Hot drinks and refreshments will be available so if this sounds like something you or someone you know might enjoy, the home urges you to join them. Together, Banbury will beat the January blues!
