Monkscroft Care Centre wins OSJCT’s Christmas carol competition
The musical talents of residents and employees at OSJCT care homes came to the fore in a creative challenge to write and perform original lyrics to a festive tune for a Christmas carol competition run by the Trust. Seventeen care homes entered, with Monkscroft Care Centre announced this week as the overall winner. The Cheltenham care home’s entry was sung to the traditional tune of ‘The Holly and the Ivy’ carol.
The final verse pays tribute to night staff and reception:
The night team have been watching and listening for bells
We will bring them Christmas stockings and make sure all is well
Greetings from reception we are welcoming our guests
Christmas time at Monkscroft really is the best.
Doreen Paisley, Home Manager at Monkscroft Care Centre said: “The song was written by residents and team members. We all had a lot of fun putting the video together and including each department. Music has always been an integral part of what we do at Monkscroft. We are so honoured to have won and to share this song with our local community.”
Three best in county finalists were also announced: Boultham Park House, Lincoln; Marston Court, Oxford; and Athelstan House, Malmesbury. Additional finalists were: Skirbeck Court, Boston; Henry Cornish Care Centre, Chipping Norton; The Meadows, Didcot; and Seymour House, Chippenham.
Many of the performances have been shared on social media so that friends and family members of loved ones in OSJCT homes can also enjoy them in the lead-up to Christmas.
