Residents at Lewin House enjoyed a very special morning when Aylesbury MP, Laura Kyrke-Smith, paid us a visit to meet residents, answer their questions and find out more about life in our home.

Everyone gathered together in the communal lounge, where they were treated to cups of tea and coffee, along with a delicious coffee and walnut cake. 

Our MP took the time to make her way around the room, stopping to chat with residents individually and hearing about their lives, interests and experiences. There was a lovely atmosphere in the lounge as residents welcomed the opportunity to have a natter with their local representative.

We also welcomed a Q&A session from the residents, with questions covering a wonderfully broad range of topics. Some residents were curious to hear about how care homes are funded and how decisions are made, while others were keen to ask something a little more personal — including what our MP had for dinner the night before!

Before leaving, Laura also took the time to visit residents who were unable to join the gathering in the communal lounge. She popped into their rooms for a chat and spent some one-to-one time catching up with them.

It was a truly wholesome morning, filled with conversation, laughter, cake and plenty of smiles. Most importantly, our residents thoroughly enjoyed having the opportunity to meet their local MP, sharing their own thoughts and experiences along the way.
