Music Open Day
Athelstan House recently hosted a musically themed open day
Residents were joined by those from fellow care home Stainsbridge House for an afternoon of country and western music provided by local entertainer, Brian Slade.
OSJCT homes support residents to carry on with interests started earlier in life, including music, to help individuals maintain their independence. OSJCT homes use music therapy to help residents with age-related issues, such as stress, depression, chronic pain and even memory impairment. Music therapy can also be used in memory care treatment to slow the decline in speech skills of those living with dementia. Music also brings people together, combatting feelings of loneliness and isolation and it motivates older adults to keep moving.
A feeling of fun and general well-being abounded amongst residents, the home team and their guests!
