As part of Dementia Action Week, we were thrilled to welcome Musical Moments to Isis House for an uplifting session that truly ended the week on a high note. Led by the talented Julia, the session was a joyful celebration of music, movement, and memories.

Julia, from Musical Moments—a company dedicated to wellbeing-based music sessions—delighted residents with a live performance featuring classic hits from legends like Elvis and The Beatles. Accompanying her soulful vocals on both ukulele and violin, she brought the room to life with rhythm and warmth.

Residents were invited to join in the musical fun using an array of colourful and engaging props, including shakers, tambourines, streamers, and silk scarves. Simple dance movements were also introduced, thoughtfully designed to be inclusive for all abilities, ensuring both ambulant and wheelchair-using residents could participate comfortably.

The session sparked more than just song—it sparked memories. One resident shared fond recollections of his time as a ballroom dance instructor, leading to heartwarming conversations and reminiscence among the group.

Julia’s ability to connect with every individual, especially those with mobility challenges or dementia, made the experience especially meaningful. Our residents, who have a deep love for music and movement, truly lit up during the session.

We are so grateful to Julia and Musical Moments for a memorable, therapeutic, and joy-filled experience. Music has a powerful way of bringing people together, and today it brought smiles, laughter, and a wonderful sense of community to Isis House.
