New Operations Director joins OSJCT
Mike Stredder prioritises meeting colleagues and residents.
Core values such as dedication to caring and mutual respect were driving factors in encouraging new OSJCT Operations Director Mike Stredder to apply for his role.
Mike joined in autumn and has worked in a variety of healthcare sectors in his professional life, most recently as Director of Operations for NHS Blood and Transplant. Previous roles have taken him to pharmacy with Lloyds and Boots and dental health with Oasis Dental Care.
Mike said he was drawn to the role at OSJCT because of the trust’s core values, particularly the dedication to caring and having respect for each other.
“I felt those very strongly when I researched the organisation,” he added. “In interview and from my first days with the Trust it was clear that they weren’t just lip service but embedded across the organisation.
Getting into the care homes to meet his new colleagues and our residents is the thing that most excited Mike about his new role.
“I know we have fantastic colleagues to meet and I am looking forward to getting to know them, to understanding their challenges, and to work how I can best support them,” he explained.
Mike will bring great experience of working with CQC and other regulators and says that his approach in the first few months of his new job will be to ‘look, learn, and listen’.
He said: “I know that OSJCT provides outstanding care and it is a challenge to keep doing that when expectations from the CQC are growing. Another challenge we face is growing occupancy in the current climate.
“Covid_19 has awoken the nation to the vital role that the care sector and NHS does, and I hope that opens more people’s eyes to what a great career we can provide.”
