Westgate House launch new day care service in Wallingford

Westgate House in Wallingford is launching a new Day Care service for over-65s, with a free Taster Week from 13–17 April, offering activities, companionship, hot lunch and professional care in a safe, welcoming environment.

Westgate House Day Care is inviting local residents aged 65 and over to enjoy a free Taster Week from 13–17 April, marking the launch of its new Day Care service at the care home in Wallingford.

Running Monday to Friday, 10am–3pm, Day Care offers a full and enjoyable day including a programme of activities and entertainment, a hot lunch, and refreshments.

The service provides a safe, friendly environment where older people can socialise, make new friends, and enjoy meaningful activities, while offering family carers valuable time to themselves with peace of mind.

During the Taster Week, guests can attend free of charge (usual cost £43.50 per day, sometimes subsidised by the Local Authority), subject to a short care assessment. Activities take place every morning and afternoon and include quizzes, games, baking, bingo, and arts and crafts.

Special events during the week include themed baking and creative sessions, a Sounds of the 50s and 60s afternoon with popular entertainer Doug on Wednesday, and a relaxed Friday Drinks Club to round off the week.

Daniela Midwinter, Home Manager at Westgate House, said:
