No horsing around for Coombe End Court as they make donation to Greatwood charity
The stables at Greatwood are our “neigh-bours” and it was a pleasure to present them with a cheque for the £350.
Residents were delighted to be able to see the horses they’ve become so fond of in their own environment when we visited the stables last week.
Greatwood have been bringing their beautiful retired racehorses, Marc and Cash, to Coombe End Court every week over the summer and our residents and team wanted to do something to give a little back to them.
On Friday 22 September, Coombe End Court held a bake sale, raffle and ‘guess the name of the bear’ game to raise money to say “thank you.” Residents’ family and friends, and the local community, were all invited to come along and get involved in the fundraiser.
We’d like to extend thanks to everyone who baked cakes, donated prizes and joined us at our fundraising event, and to Waitrose, Tesco and Valentiner for their gifts too.
Greatwood was the first charity to use former racehorses to support an education programme for disadvantaged children and young adults with Special Educational Needs (SEN), and they have been working their magic with our residents over the last few months.
