Oktoberfest Comes To Old Sarum
Bourne House residents raised the bar with Oktoberfest celebrations.
Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany is the world’s largest folk festival and has become a huge part of the city’s identity. Cities across the world now model their own celebrations modelled on the original German event, and this year, Oktoberfest came to Avonbourne Care Centre.
Bourne House residents went in pursuit of ‘hoppiness’ and enjoyed a beer tasting event, complete with mini glass steins and German-inspired snacks to complement the beers. There was also a selection of beers to taste from around the world.
There was no currywurst this year, but swapping their arts and crafts for craft beers instead, the residents of Bourne House maintained the tradition of beer, cheer and chat.
In the Munich event, millions of litres of beer are consumed over the 2-3 week event. Avonbourne’s was a slightly more modest affair on the beer front, but we more than made up for that on the cheer front.
With the Halloween baking and craft activities as well, it’s been a busy few days at Avonbourne Care Centre!
