Old Sarum care home Avon Court achieves Good rating following CQC inspection
Avon Court care team show off their new Good rating banner.
Avon Court, part of Avonbourne Care Centre in Old Sarum, has achieved a Good rating following an inspection by Care Quality Commission (CQC). Inspectors visited the specialist dementia care home, run by The Orders of St John Care Trust (OSJCT), during March 2023.
The inspection examined various elements of the service offered at Avon Court. The CQC report assessed that the care home is both safe and well-led, and that residents are supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives, by the care team.
The CQC report noted that the team has developed good relationships with health and social care professionals and community organisations. It also referenced the “friendly and respectful way” the team interacted with residents and their families, who are “content and comfortable” with them.
Linda Knifton, Area Operations Manager for Avon Court, said: “I am absolutely delighted with the results of our inspection. To be rated Good in the areas inspected is fantastic. We have a strong team at Avon Court and they have worked really hard to get to where they are now. It is testament to their efforts that the CQC has awarded this Good rating.”
The full inspection report is available on the CQC website.
News of Avon Court’s Good CQC rating comes as OSJCT has received a “Top 20 Care Home Group” Award in the Large Care Home Group category of Carehome.co.uk’s 2023 Awards. The Award is based on reviews given by those who live in one of the Trust’s 61 care homes, and their friends and family. Thousands of providers were in the running for an Award. OSJCT has over 3,000 reviews on the site and an average score of 9.5 out of 10.
