OSJCT drive to enable residents to vote in the General Election
Residents at homes across The Orders of St John Care Trust (OSJCT) will be casting their vote in the General Election on Thursday 12th December.
Since the election was announced the Trust has been running a campaign called Older People Deserve a Voice. The campaign recognises the importance of ensuring all residents who want to vote, are able to do so, either by postal or proxy vote, or in person on the day.
Parliamentary candidates have also been invited into many homes to give residents the chance to hear about policies and ask questions so that they can make an informed choice when voting.
Kerry Dearden, Deputy CEO at the Trust, said: “We all felt it was incredibly important not only to ensure that any resident who wanted to vote had the chance to do so, but also that residents were able to make an informed choice in this General Election.
“I am very grateful to colleagues across the Trust who have worked so hard to inform residents about their options for voting and to put in place plans to help them to do and also for encouraging political debate within our homes.”
