OSJCT joins enei in recognition of its commitment to diversity and inclusion
Employers Network for Equality & Inclusion (enei)
OSJCT has become a member of the Employers Network for Equality & Inclusion (enei) to support its diversity and inclusion journey. The OSJCT community is made up of around 8000 people who live, work and volunteer in one of the Trust’s care homes, extra care housing schemes or offices and every single one of them is unique.
Jacqui Roynon, Director of People said: “I am delighted that the Trust has become members of the enei who I know will help us achieve and promote best practice in equality and inclusion.
We also know that to achieve our ambition we need to do this in partnership with the people who make up our OSJCT community. Over the coming months we’ll be hearing from as many of our people as possible to help us further understand what’s important, and what a truly inclusive environment looks and feels like for them as an individual.”
The Trust will be running a series of focus groups and other listening exercises among its employees and volunteers in coming months to share their experiences, views, and ideas for improvement.
Working towards being a fully inclusive and diverse workplace requires continuous development. The Trust will look to review through the lens of, ‘have we created conditions where every person can contribute in their unique, meaningful way and feel safe and secure doing that?’ enei will support the organisation in working collaboratively across all its teams and departments to build sustainable plans to be an even better organisation where people love to live, work and volunteer.
Emma Jennins, enei Diversity and Inclusion Lead said: “enei are proud to support 400+ member organisations in their diversity and inclusion (D&I) journeys. We are very pleased to have The Orders of St John Care Trust join us and are committed to providing D&I support to help the Trust achieve their D&I aims and objectives.”
Jacqui reflected: “I joined OSJCT a year ago and have been bowled over by the compassion, resilience and dedication of the people I’ve met through what have been extraordinary times. It was apparent to me very early on that our values truly underpin everything we do at OSJCT ensuring that everyone is valued as unique individuals.
“Those that know us well, will already be aware that we pride ourselves on offering person-centred care to our residents and clients. But we also want to be known for taking this approach with those that work and volunteer with us. At the core of this is ensuring that we’re an inclusive organisation which allows every single person to bring to work who they are, the vitality of their lived experiences, views, needs and realities.”
“Diversity makes us stronger – and as we tackle the biggest challenges the sector has ever faced; we want and need every voice to be heard.”
