OSJCT Whitefriars Home Manager wins Trust’s prestigious Nigel Stourton Award
OSJCT Shining Stars Employee Awards
Home Manager Shelly Perry, who works at OSJCT Whitefriars care home in Stamford, has been presented with the Nigel Stourton Award 2020 in The Orders of St John Care Trust (OSJCT) Shining Stars Employee Awards 2020. The Trust, which employs over 5,200 staff across its homes and offices selected 48 winners from a shortlist of 129 finalists.
Shelly, who joined the Trust in May 2016, was nominated by colleagues for the award for her dedication and the time and energy that she puts into the role, spending time with staff and residents alike. She secured a Good CQC rating for the home in 2019, which had previously ‘required improvements’. Team members highlighted Shelly as a kind and approachable manager who brings good ideas and has made some fantastic changes.
Shelly said: “I was very emotional to hear that I’d received this Award. I do my job because I love it and because I am passionate about working as a team with colleagues to provide the best quality of care for our residents. It really is a vocation. When I’m not scheduled for a weekend as Home Manager, I’ll often do a shift to support wherever I’m needed, as a carer or kitchen assistant, I just love the home.
“We have a great team here and we pull together, especially in recent times, we work together as one.”
Caroline Dunagan, OSJCT Assistant Operations Director, Lincolnshire and a member of the judging panel, said: “Shelly is a deserving winner of this exclusive Award. We have given out this Award a handful of times in recent years to recognised exemplary employees. Shelly was chosen as the OSJCT Leader of the 2019, Lincolnshire, for her exceptional leadership and dedication to the care sector. In 2020 she excelled in inspiring and supporting her team again, and the judging team selected Shelly as the winner of the Nigel Stourton Award.
I would like to congratulate Shelly on winning this award. It is so important to celebrate and recognise the wonderful achievements of colleagues from across Lincolnshire, each and everyone have gone out of their way to improve the lives of those living in our homes. We absolutely appreciate and value their contribution.”
The Nigel Stourton Award is named after the first Chairman of the OSJCT Board of Trustees when it acquired care homes in Lincolnshire. Unlike other OSJCT categories, this Award is unique to Lincolnshire.
