Over 900 knitted poppies on display at Athelstan House for Remembrance Day
Thanks to residents, staff, friends, volunteers and members of the community.
Volunteer Lynn Edwards has organised a cascade of hand knitted poppies, now on view at the Malmesbury Care Home, run by OSJCT. The poppies are displayed across the front of the building on Priory Way.
900 poppies have been knitted by residents and staff at the home as well as relatives, friends, volunteers and members of the community. The idea came from Lynn, who joined as an OSJCT volunteer in September, three months after her mother, Dorothy Benjamin, who had lived at the care home since 2017, passed away.
Deputy Home Manager, Lucy Ponting, said: “This is a fantastic initiative by Lynn. We’ve all enjoyed taking part. The support from the local community has been incredible and we would like to say a big thank you to all those involved.”
The poppy display will be on view until 13 November at OSJCT Athelstan House, Priory Way, Malmesbury.
