From owls to pussycats, beaches and beer to Bollywood: it’s summer-time at Goodson Lodge!
Join residents and the team at Goodson Lodge for a summer of fun
August promises to be full of fun for residents, their families and friends, at Goodson Lodge. Below are just some highlights of experiences taking place in the home this month. Residents from the local community are also warmly invited to join in.
Owls swoop in to Goodson Lodge
- There is a fascinating variety of raptors in the UK, and during a special visit from Wren’s Birds of Prey, residents will get to learn all about owls, their care and conservation
 - Resident Ron Starkey, pictured above, said: “Owls are just incredible birds to see”
 - Coincides with International Owl Awareness Day on Friday 4 August
 - 11.00am to 12.30pm, Tuesday 1 August
 
Beer Night with The Alpine Stompers Bavarian Band
- Beer tasting and thigh-slapping music from oompah band The Alpine Stompers
 - Resident Alice Moody said of the event: "It was so much fun and really easy to get involved"

 - Coincides with International Beer Day on Friday 4 August

Goodson’s first-ever Community Cat Café
- Goodson Lodge hosts its first-ever community cat cafe
 - Cats can have many positive benefits on people’s mental health
 - OPEN and FREE to the community to attend
 - Deputy Home Manager Francine Turner as well as resident Derek and his daughter, will bring their cats in to the home
 - Coincides with International Cat Day
 - 11.00am to 12.30pm, Tuesday 8 August
 
Indian Independence Day
- Arts and crafts, Walking Club excursion to local takeaway, food tasting and Bollywood dancing by I Dance Bollywood
 - Bursar Amal Xavier and his wife share their experiences of life in India
 - The Bollywood dance show is OPEN and FREE to the community to attend
 - Bollywood dance show, 11.30am to 12.30pm, Sunday 13 August
 
Seaside week
- Traditional seaside entertainment and food, including: paddling pools, sandcastle building, hook a duck, mini golf, donkeys, Punch and Judy, ice cream van and fish and chips
 - Arts and crafts including flower arranging in buckets and knitted starfish
 - Live music from entertainer Ukulele Piddle
 - Events are OPEN and FREE to the community to attend
