Pancake Day at Edwardstow Court
Edwardstow Court in Stow on the Wold didn’t miss out on an opportunity to have pancakes for tea.
Pancake Day (Shrove Tuesday) is the day before Ash Wednesday, which marks the start of Lent. Traditionally, people would eat pancakes on this day before the 40-day fasting season of Lent began; most people now opt to give up a vice like chocolate, coffee or alcohol.
Edwardstow Court made pancake batter with their residents before setting up a pancake flipping competition! Residents and the team cooked the pancakes together and a selection of toppings were available with the residents voting the old classic lemon and sugar as the best topping.
Gemma Joynes, Activities Co-Ordinator said, “everyone enjoyed pancakes for tea and agreed that Pancake Day should be more than once a year, which of course, it can be!”.
