Pancake Day Race at Jubilee Lodge
Jubilee Lodge in Bourton-on-the-Water didn’t just cook pancakes, they raced them!
Pancake Day (Shrove Tuesday) is the day before Ash Wednesday, which marks the start of Lent. Traditionally, people would eat pancakes on this day before the 40-day fasting season of Lent began; most people now opt to give up a vice like chocolate, coffee or alcohol.
Jubilee Lodge were anything but traditional in their celebrations where they not only made and ate delicious pancakes but also had a pancake flipping race!
Residents and members of the team all got involved in the race as they ran down the drive at Jubilee Lodge. Colin Newton, Home Manager got particularly competitive and struggled to stay on his feet.
Joey Hall, Activities Co-Ordinator said, “it was such a fun twist on Pancake Day, everyone laughed and enjoyed taking part or watching from the side-lines”.
After the race residents returned to the warmth of the home to enjoy some more pancakes with a selection of toppings.
