Postcards of Kindness from The Coombs
The Coombs connects with popular Facebook group.
The Coombs has recently joined up with postcards of kindness scheme which allows residents to receive and send postcards to willing participants all over the world.
The postcards of kindness initiative asks people to write postcards to residents within care homes. Whilst sending a postcard can be a seen as a small gesture, the joy it brings to those who receive it is wonderful to see.
The Coombs has received so many cards that it is already running out of room to display them in Beech lounge. Some of the cards we have received so far include 2 from a St Theresa’s School in Manchester, 1 from Totteridge Academy in London and another from Whitfield Care Home in Glasgow.
In order to meet the demand, The Coombs has set up a postcards of kindness resident working group who meet on a weekly basis. The working group decide who they would like to send their next postcard to, as well as reply to the ones we have already received.
This is not the only act of kindness that The Coombs has got involved with recently. As yesterday was the official Random Acts of Kindness Day for 2020, The Coombs decided to mark the occasion by delivering some delicious homemade cakes to their local community.
This included delivering Mandy’s famous coffee and walnut cake to Great Oaks Hospice in the Forest of Dean. The hospice were very grateful to receive this random act of kindness from The Coombs.
