Pride not Prejudice at Avonbourne Care Centre
Residents at Avonbourne Care Centre have been celebrating Pride month this June with a live performance from drag artist, Dixie.
Dixie certainly brought the glamour to our home that afternoon, with lots of sparkles and statement jewellery, and chatted with our residents, including Joy, who was meeting a drag artist for the first time at 101 years young!
Dixie commented that Joy was the most glamorous lady she’d ever met, and residents enjoyed singing and dancing as they waved their Pride flags.
Bourne House Home Manager, Kamila Bevan, said, ‘We love to celebrate the individuality of everyone here, residents and staff, and we’re proud of the diversity and inclusivity in our home. Pride Month is always a fun, colourful time at Avonbourne, and we’re grateful to Dixie for coming to see us.”
Pride month is an important part of the calendar each year at Avonbourne as residents, friends and families, and the care team, comes together to promote everyone’s right to be whoever they are. A simple gesture such as wearing Pride colours or waving a Pride flag can make someone feel loved and seen.
If you’re near Avonbourne, call in and see us! Everyone is welcome here.
