The Re-Opening of Vivienne’s Hair Salon at Chestnut Court
"With contractors unable to come into the home, several members of the team worked through their breaks to ensure the hair salon was ready to reopen on time."
Chestnut Court is in the fortunate position of having a hair salon onsite where our residents can book in to see our popular hairdresser, Annette.
As the coronavirus pandemic hit the UK, restrictions were put in place to limit the risk of an outbreak within care homes and save lives in the process. These restrictions meant that Annette was unable to come into the home and therefore the hair salon remained closed throughout the summer.
Our truly inspirational team have continued to do what they do best throughout the pandemic – offering person centred care, support and protection to our residents. This support, which was met with high praise and appreciation by our residents and their loved ones, undoubtedly saved many lives.
Despite all of this, we devastatingly lost some of our incredible residents – with each loss of life strongly felt throughout the home.
One of those who passed away was Vivienne, who had an infectious and energetic manner which made her extremely popular with everyone at Chestnut Court. Vivienne previously owned her own hair salons in Cheltenham and subsequently loved visiting our hair salon to see Annette.
During lockdown, the team at Chestnut Court decided to take the opportunity to renovate the hair salon. With contractors unable to come into the home, several members of the team worked through their breaks to ensure the hair salon was ready to reopen on time.
Whilst the renovation took lots of hard hours, choosing a new name for the hair salon was a much easier process for the team.
Over the past month, as restrictions have gradually lifted, our residents have been thrilled to see Annette back in the home in our new renovated and aptly named hair salon – Vivienne’s!
