Remembrance Day at Hayward Care Centre
Residents and staff were joined by representatives from our local church, the armed services, and the Royal British Legion (RBL), as well as friends and family, for a service of remembrance.
We paid our respects to all members of the military who have served, and lost their lives.
The home had been decorated with poppy-themed decorations, and silhouettes of soldiers, to support our day of reflection and remembrance, and it was wonderful to have our communities coming together to share the occasion. The service was led by Sam Park, of Cannings and Redhorn Benefice, and we were joined by Chas Stonestreet, Chair of the Devizes branch of the RBL, and his wife, Jan.
Afterwards, everyone enjoyed tea or coffee and cake as we recalled our own stories of those who have served and how we have remembered them over the years. Some family members brought residents’ medals into the home as part of our reminiscence activities, and it made for a very thought -provoking, emotional day.
Lest we forget.
